Vision

Vision of the mental health nursing department is to peruse excellence in mental health nursing education and equip nursing students to maintain and promote mental health through various activities in education, practise and research which will enable the entire community to build a positive mental health.

Objectives

To impart comprehensive knowledge on mental health and psychiatric nursing to undergraduate nursing students
To develop skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individuals with mental health disorders
To foster positive attitudes among students towards individuals with mental illness, promoting empathy and non-judgmental care
To provide supervised clinical training in mental health settings to ensure competency in therapeutic communication and intervention techniques.
To encourage student participation in mental health awareness activities and community outreach programs
To integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills through case discussions, role plays, simulations, and clinical postings.
To promote research and evidence-based practice in mental health nursing among students and faculty members
To create awareness about legal and ethical aspects in the care of mentally ill clients
To collaborate with mental health institutions and professionals for enriched learning experiences and clinical exposure
To prepare nursing students as competent mental health professionals who can function effectively in diverse healthcare settings
