Vision of the mental health nursing department is to peruse excellence in mental health nursing education and equip nursing students to maintain and promote mental health through various activities in education, practise and research which will enable the entire community to build a positive mental health.

Mission

The mission of mental health nursing department is to achieve excellence in teaching and learning in the area of mental health nursing through developing and executing effective educational program and research activities, ultimately leading positive changes in mental health care outcomes and better care of the community.

Objectives

  •  To impart comprehensive knowledge on mental health and psychiatric nursing to undergraduate nursing students
  •  To develop skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individuals with mental health disorders
  •  To foster positive attitudes among students towards individuals with mental illness, promoting empathy and non-judgmental care
  •  To provide supervised clinical training in mental health settings to ensure competency in therapeutic communication and intervention techniques.
  •  To encourage student participation in mental health awareness activities and community outreach programs
  •  To integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills through case discussions, role plays, simulations, and clinical postings.
  •  To promote research and evidence-based practice in mental health nursing among students and faculty members
  •  To create awareness about legal and ethical aspects in the care of mentally ill clients
  •  To collaborate with mental health institutions and professionals for enriched learning experiences and clinical exposure
  •  To prepare nursing students as competent mental health professionals who can function effectively in diverse healthcare settings
